Shutters Installed in Aberdyfi Boutique Hotel

Aberdyfi on the welsh coast is a picture postcard perfect location for plantation shutters. Beautiful beaches, stunning views and chocolate box cottages make Aberdyfi (also spelt Aberdovey) a favourite holiday spot for those looking to escape.

Escape is just what Ann and Gareth Hughes did a few years ago when the decided to escape the rat race and open a lovley boutique hotel, Llety Bodfor, right on the front in Aberdyfi. Having had enough of the city life, the couple wanted to set up their own upscale hotel in the seaside town and had a clear picture of exactly how the hotel, Llety Bodfor would look. Ann, an interior designer by trade, tells us

"Shutters were central to the design of the hotel as they were just perfect for the nautical influence that you feel all around Aberdyfi. I wanted Llety Bodfor to be welcoming the minute our customers walked in the door and wanted a mix of contemporary design with comfortable soft furnishings. With some of the windows uPVC, I was set on using shutters to help hide the harshness of the window frames and make the view a lot more attractive by using shutters. Shutters have been great as they are very flexible in how they can be used. Guests can choose to open the panels or just tilt the shutters slats for privacy. In addition, the shutters are extremely hard wearing, therefore stand up to the trail and tribulations of being in a public environment!"

Ann was so taken with the shutters that she now sells shutters from The California Company in her Interior Design shop, Seld Interiors. "The idea of the store was to give hotel guests the ability to buy items seen in Llety Bodfor or inspired by their stay in Aberdyfi. Needless to say, shutters have been very popular with our guests"
