The California Company has a large workshop, storage and office facility close to 10,000 sq ft from which we operate. We do not manufacture our shutters, doors or blinds on this site simply because the cost of our manufacturing in the UK would be prohibitive. Our shutters and doors are manufactured at our state of the art facility around 3 hours outside of Shanghai, China, and our blinds are made in Los Angeles, California. We have developed a very smooth, efficient, secure and cost effective logistical operation which sees a large volume of shutters, blinds and doors in our system at any one time.

From our inception in 2002, we have always wanted to provide UK shutter and wood blind customer with the best possible quality product at the most competitive price. Quite simply we could not achieve this manufacturing in the UK. We would either have to compromise the quality of our products (give you inferior quality items like MDF shutters, cheap wood blinds or uPVC folding sliding doors) or increase the prices that we sell for. Neither option do we consider acceptable.

We have formed exclusive partnerships with specialist manufacturing facilities that make our wooden plantation shutters, folding doors and wood blinds. The designs that we have devised are exclusive to The California Company and have been developed to make self installation as easy and straightforward as possible. As much as possible every possible item has been pre drilled, pre hung, tested, checked and cross checked to ensure that when your doors, shutters or blinds arrive, everything is perfect ready to install.

While automation in the construction of shutters, folding doors and blinds is advantageous in many areas, there is a high degree of hand craftsmanship and manual construction. This is required to ensure that each and every surface is flawless and that the quality, construction and manufacture is second to none. To have the level of hand work involved in the fabrication of our products, undertaken in the UK would lead to the cost of our products being at least 3 times the price they sell for on our website.

Our facilities comply with required legislation related to worker conditions, emissions and waste disposal. We are proud that as part of our partnership with B&Q we were subject to detailed comprehensive investigation of our entire facility and operation both in the UK and at our shutter factory in China. We were delighted to pass all aspect of the investigation with a high level of commendation.

To ensure that our UK shutters, doors and blinds customers have the highest possible levels of customer service we have a manufacturing facility in the UK which can make many items for our product range. This has been a fantastic asset for the large number of California Company customers buying plantation shutters who require replacement parts such as additional lengths of shutter frame or replacement slats. Rather than have to wait a few weeks for such items to arrive from our main manufacturing location, we can make these at our Brighton facility and ship to your for next day delivery.

Our head office is a hive of activity with daily deliveries of shutters, blinds and folding doors. Our Warehouse Manager oversees all inbound and outbound deliveries and you will be contacted directly by a member of our team to confirm that your shutters, concertina doors and blinds are ready for despatch to you. We ensure that you will be available to either take delivery directly or you can advise us where your delivery should be left. Very importantly, we do not mind storing your shutters or blinds if you are not ready to take delivery. We do not simply ship these items without checking that you are ready to have them delivered as there is nothing worse than having to make calls to us or a courier company to arrange redelivery.

The vast majority of shipments arrive to us on our own sealed shipping container. This means that they are not tossed around from one vehicle to another. Containers are sealed at our overseas facilities and then opened when they arrive to us in the UK. This is important as it ensures that all packages are superbly packed and therefore do not move around during shipment. All items are then sorted at our Brighton facility and either shipped using our own in house courier or by one of our trusted partners such as TNT. We ensure that your boxes are clearly marked and easily identifiable to make organisation and installation easy.

For our temporary blinds product, we always carry a large stock of this product at our UK facility. We can then ship orders for delivery the next working day, making this superb temporary window blinds solution not only fantastically easy to install and use but delivered with lightening speed!

As with all aspects of our service, we have structured our entire manufacturing, logistics and delivery system with the sole intention of delivering exceptional quality folding doors, plantation shutters and wooden blinds in the quickest possible timeframe, safely and seamlessly. We will do everything in our power to communicate with you throughout the order, manufacture and delivery process to update you about the progress of your order.
