Who is The California Shutter & Blind Company?
We are a UK based company with our headquarters in Brighton & Hove, East Sussex. Our business is focused on selling high quality window treatments for self installation at an exceptionally competitive price. This includes blinds and shutters as well as temporary blinds!
What blinds do you sell?
You can view a full range of products directly on our website. We focus on selling both 50mm wood blinds and wood effect blinds as well as 64mm shutter style wood blinds. We do not sell off the shelf 25mm slat or 35mm wooden blinds.
All the blind ranges that we sell are made from either hardwood or wood-like waterproof polyvinyl. Effective Feb 2008, we have stopped selling aluminium venetian blinds.
How do I order my wooden blinds?
We have designed our website to be as customer friendly and intuitive as possible. It is extremely easy to order your blinds directly on our fully secure shopping website. However, we also are more than happy to help you over the phone and can take your order over the phone or via mail if you prefer.
There are lots of companies selling wooden blinds on the internet. Why should I buy wood blinds from The California Shutter & Blind Company?
Why? First and foremost we have a unique high quality product. No other company in the UK sells the blinds we sell and therefore you can be assured of having blinds unrivalled in terms of quality and longevity.
What are ‘made to measure’ blinds?
We make blinds to measure - not sized to fit. What’s the difference? Most internet blinds companies have stock sized blinds, then cut them down or remove/ add slats to conform with the sizes that you order.
Cutting down stock sizes means that the ends of the blind are usually badly finished off giving your blinds a rough finish. Also, this system does not allow for the blinds controls (slat tilt controls and blinds raise control) to be located at a sensible position. Therefore, you could end up with the controls positioned at the end of the blind or ¾ of the way along the blind mechanism!
Made to measure means that our blinds are made completely from scratch. Wood is selected specifically for your blind and cut to the size needed for your blind. All holes, strings and tapes are positioned to meet the individual requirements of your blinds.
How much control do I have over the finish of my blinds?
You can choose the majority of finishes for our blinds. In fact you can choose the finish, the colour, where the controls are located and which controls work best for your blinds.
Our philosophy is to ensure that you receive a high quality product, tailor-made to your specific needs with no compromises. That way you are pleased and we have another happy customer using our great blinds product!
Can I choose where my blind controls are located?
On the vast majority of our wood blinds and faux wood blinds (also known as wood like or waterproof blinds) you can choose where the blind controls (slat tilt and blind raise) are located.
Have the tilt on the left and the raise on the right of the blind, or if you prefer have them all located on one side.
My friend has a wand stick to tilt her blinds, but I prefer to pull a string. Can I order my blinds with this?
Yes. All ranges (except out Beverly Hills Blinds) range have the option of the blinds tilt being made with either a string tilt or wand tilt.
I read in Living etc that you offer a remote control blind!
Yes – that is correct. Most of our blind ranges come with the option of ordering your blind with remote control tilting. This is an extra cost option but remote control blinds do offer the ultimate in luxury living!
Can you help me choose the best design for my blinds?
Yes. Our website has a unique product visualisation function which helps you picture (almost!) exactly what you blind will look like.
However if you need that personal touch please contact us either via email or phone and we can help you design the best blind to suit your home.
Why do you not offer 25mm / 1” wooden blinds?
We previously sold 25mm slat wooden blinds but found a decrease in their popularity in the past few years. We have therefore streamlined our product range to focus on 50mm and 64mm slat wood blinds.
What are the benefits of 50mm and 64mm wooden blinds?
Our Malibu, Santa Ana, Monterey and Beverly Hills ranges feature either 50mm or 64mm slats.
These larger slats give a greater spacing between the wood blind slats and allow more light into the room. They are designed so that the blind slats have a good overlap to ensure that you can tilt the slats at a slight angle, yet retain privacy from prying eyes outside!
All this sounds great. Are California Company Blinds much more expensive than other internet blinds companies?
No. You can buy cheap cut down blinds for less money, but our blinds are priced exceptionally competitively. We focus on selling high quality blinds for a very low margin. However, we sell a lot of blinds and due to the quality of the blinds and our sales volume, we have an exceptionally high customer satisfaction rate.
How do I order my wooden blinds from you?
Our online shop makes ordering easy. You just need to read over our measuring guide, check your window dimensions and choose which options you would like for your blinds.

From placing my order, how long will it take to order my blinds to arrive?
Our average lead time on our wood blinds and wood like blinds is 10 days.
Does The California Shutter & Blind Co deliver my blinds?
Yes! We package all blinds superbly and use a courier partner to deliver your blinds directly to you.
Can I choose when my blinds will be delivered?
Standard delivery is free of charge on all orders over £50.
Standard delivery means that your blinds should arrive between 9am and 6pm on the day confirmed by The California Shutter & Blind Co.
If you prefer your wooden blinds to be delivered on a Saturday or before 12 noon on a weekday, you can select this extra cost delivery item on checkout.
What happens if I have a problem with my blind?
In the exceptionally rare instance that you have an issue with your blind when it arrives, please make contact with us immediately. We will then be happy to help.
Is my blind guaranteed?
Yes – your wooden blind and wood like blind is delivered with a full 12 month guarantee.
