Tools You Will Need

  • Pencil
  • Measuring Tape
  • Phillips Screwdriver (star)
  • Drill
  • Spirit level
  • Suitable wall fixings (rawlplugs, plasterboard fixings)

In Your Box
When your blinds arrive you will find inside the box:

  • your blind
  • blind pelmet
  • all required hardware comprising:
    • 2 mounting (end) brackets(screws #1)
    • Centre support bracket for blinds over 1000mm wide(screws #1)
    • Valance clips (screws #3)
    • Valance return clips (if required)
    • Cord cleat (with cleat screws)
    • Hold down brackets (optional screws #2))

Unwrap the blinds carefully. Do not open the packing with scissors as you may cut the strings. When unwrapped, remove the control strings from the header/cassette box.

tools for installing your wooden blinds

Step 1 – Mounting Your Brackets

You have 2 brackets one for either end of the header/cassette box. These are multi purpose and can be mounted within the recess, outside of the recess, against the back wall or onto the ceiling. Blinds brackets

One bracket mounts on the left end of the blind, the other on the right end. The brackets should be fitted with the hinged cover plate towards you and opening upwards. The image shows the left bracket mounted inside the recess with hinged cover
at the front of the bracket.

You will need to judge the best fixing for your brackets. This may be to screw upwards into the ceiling (or under side of the recess), into the side wall of the recess or face fixed directly onto the wall or window architrave if best suited. Measure the width of the blind with the brackets attached to either end, mark this width on the wall/window/recess to establish the position of the blind.

If the blind requires a support bracket, position this evenly between the 2 end brackets as shown in the diagram below. The support bracket MUST be at least 100mm away from any cord / ladder position and must have the open end facing out so that the header/cassette box will slide into all brackets.

To fix the brackets ensure that you mark the holes using your pencil and use a spirit level if required to ensure they are correctly positioned. Make holes using a drill and insert rawl plugs if necessary. Fix all brackets into place with screws provided.

Step 2 – Mounting Your Blind

Having unwrapped the blind from the packing, ensure the control strings are removed from the metal header mechanism.

With the blind controls towards you, gently slide into the brackets. When firmly inside the brackets, pull the hinged covers down and lock into the latch.

Step 3 – Finishing Touches

the blind valance if applicable

Screw valance clips onto the back of the pelmet so that the ‘hook’ of the clip is in line with the top of the pelmet. If pelmet returns are supplied align the short edges of the pelmet and the return and screw the valance return clip to both to form a right angle.
Hook the pelmet into place over the headrail of the blind.

Step 4 – Operating Your Blind

Tilting the Blind Slats

Hold either of the two strings and pull to adjust the slat angle.
Do not over tilt the blinds. Stop tilting process when you hear or see slats
touching each other at the top of the blind.

Raising and Lowering the Blind Slats
We recommend you tilt the slats to the open position when raising and lowering the blind. This ensures the blind will work efficiently and also extends the life of the blind.

To lower the blind: Move cord to the left, pulling down gently until cord lock releases, the blind will then lower. To raise the blind: Pull cord down gently until blind reaches the desired height. To lock cords: Pull cord right and release. The cord will automatically lock.

EXTRAS:
Hold down brackets: Using the screws provided, fix the hold down brackets to the window, wall or door where the bottom of the fully lowered blind will be positioned. They should be fixed so that the pins on the hold down brackets snap into the holes on the ends of the bottom rail of the blind.

WARNING

Cord Cleat: We recommend you use the cord cleat supplied to keep all cords out of the reach of children.

Young children can strangle in the loop of pull cords, chains, tapes that operate window coverings. They can also wrap the cords around their necks. To avoid the risk of strangulation and entanglement, keep cords out of the reach of young children. Move beds, cots and furniture away from the window covering cords.
