How To Measure For RECESS Size Wood Blinds

Before you start you will need:
- First decide if you will you fit your blind inside a RECESS or if you want an EXACT size blind?
- Do you need your blinds to fit in a bay window?
- Then ensure you are reading the appropriate measure guide for your blinds
- Use A Steel Tape Measure
Measuring for wooden blinds - step 1
- Use a steel tape measure as they are much more reliable than cloth or plastic tapes.
- Check for any obstructions that could get in the way of the blind - i.e. window handles, telephone boxes, cables, inward opening windows etc.
- In 2 or 3 places measure the width from wall to wall inside the window recess. Bear in mind that very few windows are 100% square. It is common for the measurements to sometimes vary by a small amount. The NARROWEST width dimension is the dimension you use in your ordering steps.
- Then measure the height. We suggest you measure from roof of recess down to window cill, measure in a few places to find the longest dimension. It’s this longest dimension you should use. Your drop size includes the blind box at the top.
- Do measure all windows your require blinds for, even if they appear to be the same size.
Step 2:
If you order the Blind as RECESS SIZE then we will make a 12mm deduction from the overall width that you give us. This is to ensure that the blind can raise and lower comfortably without hitting the wall on the either side. Blinds are supplied with a front pelmet as standard.
Occasionally In some recessed windows you may prefer to order an EXACT SIZE blind. You can tell us the exact dimension that you would like the blind to be. We will make no deductions. This can be quite a good way of measuring if you have a recessed window but have certain obstructions such as tiles or an up stand or picture rail inside the recess. In such situations we can supply the EXACT SIZE you need the blind to be and if necessary we can supply a wider pelmet to fit wall to wall.
