Initially if you measure and install your own plantation shutters you are saving yourself in the region of 50% from what you would pay to have a shutter company do this for you.  For years people have measured and installed their own blinds...... shutters are just as straight forward.  So we designed our web site with the sole purpose of making plantation shutters available and affordable to the DIY market.  Our shutters measuring guides and shutters installation videos will guide you through the process.

The California Company is in a unique position whereby we manufacture our own shutters. The vast majority of interior shutters sold in the UK are purchased via two importers. We effectively have cut out the middle man and as such our costs are lower.  This enables us to sell directly to the DIY market at a lower cost. It’s that simple.

Other shutter companies have followed our lead and in recent years started to offer DIY Shutters at ‘Discounted’ rates. We regularly check all our competitor’s prices to ensure that our hardwood shutters are lowest priced. In most cases our hardwood shutters are cheaper than their engineered (and we believe inferior) products such as MDF and LDF.
