30's Bay Window Shutters
These plantation shutters are finished in shell coloured paint. The paint is coated with a UV protective spray to stop the shutters from fading or discolouring as a result of the sun.
These shutters are on a 30's style bay window in property in Brighton, East Sussex. This sees individually hinged shutter panels on the side sections of the window and then 4 larger panels on the main centre section. Generally with this design of wooden shutters, as the panels are fairly wide, the shutters remain closed over the vast majority of the time, with the slats being tilted to control the amount of light coming into the room.
As you can see on this photo the shutter panels have large 89mm slats. These really help pull light into the room and even although the shutter are closed over a lot of the time, there is minimal loss of light, even although the shutters panels are closed over.
Each shutter panel is designed on this window to be the full width of the glass area, having no vertical lines other than the shutter push rod through the glazed area.
