Exterior Box Bay Shutter
The California Shutter Company can design your plantation shutters to whatever specification you desire. While tier on tier shutters are a very popular shutter design with many of our customers a great alternative is full height shutter panels with a mid rail. A mid rail (also known as a divide rail) on the shutter has the effect of separating the slats above and below the rail on the shutter panel. This gives fantastic flexibility in terms of light control through the shutter slats.
This customer had a great Victorian bay window which was well suited to full height plantation shutters. The view across the road from the property in London was not terribly inspiring therefore we advised the customer that it would be rare that they would open back the shutter panels from the window. Tilting the shutter slats at a slight angle on the lower section of the window gives privacy from people walking past, while leaving the top slats tilted open enables the customer to have a clear view looking through the window.
The shutters in this photo are painted in UV protective All White and have 64mm shutter slats and have been ordered with the 'Open Sky' concealed push rod system.
