California Company DIY Window Shutters Ordered in Leicester for a Californian!

Interior DIY shutters were the perfect solution to her small Leicester cottage windows and quaint cottage sloping ceilings.

Firstly, I was born and raised in California, but I have lived in the UK for over 30 years, so I know about plantation shutters.
 
When my husband and I moved to a small cottage in Leicestershire, I was at a loss to deal with the low ceilings and the need to maximise light from all the windows.  In addition, we live next to a public footpath, and so needed to consider both light and privacy from some windows (and I HATE net curtains).  Window Shutters seemed the obvious answer.

Your DIY window shutters were the best value, your buying process was easy and straightforward, and your service supreme.  A word of advice to buyers- NEVER assume your windows are square!  Always take measurements at the front and back of the window recess and bottom, middle and top for both width and length!  We had some close calls but managed to make all of our interior shutters fit perfectly in the end thanks to your easy instructions.
 
We now have 12 diy shutters throughout our Leicester home and they are fabulous.  The added bonus is that our cat can not get through them, so at night (when we like to keep him in the house) we can open the windows for fresh air but keep him in!
 
We have two windows (which look onto the garden and are private) which I will do Roman blinds for as too many plantation shutters could look a bit institutional!  However, I am seriously considering ordering wooden blinds for our oak-windowed sunroom in the future .... from the California Shutter Company, of course.
