Self Installation instructions for custom made shutters
STEP 1 - Assembling your shutter frame
Remove all the frame pieces from the long box. There will be an individually wrapped frame for every window in your order. Position frame pieces on the floor to form the shape of your window. Full height & tier on tier shutters will generally have 4 sides of frame per window, café style or a French door will have 3 sides of frame only.
The frame ends are mitred and are joined together by inserting the plastic Hoffman key into the BOWTIE shaped holes which form at the frame corners when the frame is assembled correctly. There is a leading edge on the plastic bowtie fixing and this is the end which is placed in the hole first. Use a hammer to gently tap the fixing into the hole.
The photo illustrates how the frames join together. The sketch shows how the frame sides match up.
Unless you request otherwise the holes will be predrilled in the SHUTTER FRAMES ready for you to attach to walls or window surround.
