An outside mount is required when the window has no reveal or recess. All shutters are mounted within a frame. Where you have no recess your shutter frame will be surface mounted onto the actual window frame or surround. The most typical type of window having outside mounted shutters would be a sash window. If you are still unsure if you require an outside mount and you can answer 'yes' to the following, then you must go for an outside mount.
- Is your recess less than 40mm?
- Do your windows open inwards?
Use a steel tape measure
- Measure from left to right across the window remembering to include 33mm left and right, to allow the shutter frame to sit flat on your window surround.
- Measure the window top to bottom, remembering to include 33mm for the frame at the top. The bottom of the frame will sit flat on your window sill.
- To confirm, the total width and drop that you convey to us will include area on the window where the shutter frame will be mounted.
